Each year my husband Eric personally curates a very small lot of a prestige-level wine as part of our Vive La Musique portfolio and we offer it as a special collaboration between WINEandJAZZ.com and an organization that is passionately trying to make our world a better place.
This Fall’s Charitable Wine Release We Partnered With Starfire And The Releasing My New Song “Fly”

WINEandJAZZ.com Club Members and Adventurers Chris & Jeanine Slatt co-founded Starfire 20 years ago, and we’ve been so inspired by what they do.
Starfire delivers inclusive, world-class community experiences and social programs that inspire, encourage, and empower. Their 54 acre campus hosts 100,000 visitors annually, including thousands of underrepresented youth who rely on Starfire for a safe and welcoming space to play, learn, and grow. Inclusivity is at the core of Starfire’s mission. It is through access to diverse programming including music, and world-class facilities regardless of skill level, age, gender, ethnicity, or income, that Starfire is building community and inspiring a new generation of leaders.
My new song “Fly” is so special to me. I wrote it with my long time co-writing partner Ty Stevens, who’s written many of my hits with me like “Save the Last Dance,” “Remember,” “I Can’t Lose,” “Change” and more. We wrote this song thinking of building our kids’ futures to watch them ‘fly’ to become confident and empowered adults. I felt strongly that we should release this song along with this wine release, as Starfire does so much to inspire and empower the new generation in so many ways. I hope you love my new song “Fly” and this 2020 Vive la Musique Cabernet and Starfire pairing!

VIVE LA MUSIQUE “Long Live Music” 2020 Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon
Nestled in the golden embrace of California, the Sonoma County wine appellation is a symphony of nature's bounty, where vineyards dance with the sun and soil in a harmonious ballet. This canvas, kissed by the Pacific breeze, gives rise to a mosaic of microclimates, each nurturing grapes with a story to tell.
I've been fortunate to manage many wineries in Sonoma, and I love telling the story of this diverse terroir where winemakers craft wines that resonate with the heartbeat of the land.
At first gaze into the bowl of the glass you will see the tremendous dark inkiness that seems to have an ocean depth. Welcome to Sonoma County Cabernets. And for the aromas you will notice dark fruit like blackberry & dark cherry with a touch of signature cola… not overtly expressive but enough to be very, very nice.
Now onto the taste… you will be engaged with what you experienced earlier; the cola, the black cherry and the blackberry will all be there… but what might surprise you is the sudden Sonoma signature Redwood and Cedar that create a backdrop, building onto the already excellent complexity… all ending with a little creamy vanilla and a beautiful velvety mouth feel.

MY NEW SONG “FLY”
I wrote this song with my longtime co-writer Ty Stevens. He’s an incredible guitarist and I’ve written songs on almost all of my CDs with him. We’ve written “Save the Last Dance,” “Remember,” “Make A Wish,” “Gingerbread Man,” “What About Love?” and much more as a team. Ty now coaches his 12 year old son’s baseball team, and we talk constantly about how we are trying to prepare our kids to be happy, healthy, confident and successful adults. This song represents the journey that all of our kids take from childhood to adulthood. I hope you can hear where they ‘fly’ and find themselves throughout the song. I was convinced we should release my new song alongside this charitable wine release to support Starfire. I think what they’re doing via sports and music really empowers our next generation. I hope you love this pairing of wine, music and this organization as much as we believe in it!
