For our club members, this is one of the most anticipated moments of the year—the annual release of our Pinot Noir! And this year we selected central CA.
In the legendary Monterey County, the windswept terraces of the Santa Lucia Highlands offer one of the most celebrated terroirs for Pinot Noir. Cradled above the Salinas Valley with direct coastal influence from Monterey Bay, this region brings together sun-drenched days and brisk marine evenings—conditions that allow Pinot Noir to thrive slowly and gracefully. The result is a wine of poise and elegance, where vibrant fruit, silky texture, and natural acidity find their perfect harmony.
Our 2023 Vive La Soul Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir is a stunner. Ruby-hued and translucent in the glass, it opens with expressive aromas of ripe cherry, wild strawberry, and rose petal, laced with subtle notes of forest floor and baking spice. The palate is pure and polished, layering juicy red berries with hints of black tea, pomegranate, and a touch of toasted oak. The tannins are fine and silky, and the finish is long, smooth, and soulful—just like the name suggests.

We love this wine, and we love this label artwork representing the wine. The wine is strong, bold, and elegant all at the same time. It’s complex and multi-faceted. Soul music … classic Soul music … was my first thought after drinking this beautifully bold wine. The label artwork hearkens back to a time when great soul singers pulled up what is now a beautiful vintage microphone (for you music geeks, it’s a Shure 55) and sang their hearts out into it. This microphone has been used in countless recordings through the years. We thought the simplistic image of this microphone would bring our imaginations into the music that we’ve heard through them for so long. The beautiful gunmetal label gives it a stunning backdrop.

There’s nothing like great soul music. This wine begs for it in my opinion. It’s strong, multi-layered, elegant, earthy, and it’s meant to move you. I created this playlist to pair perfectly with this wine. These songs are meaningful and create such a beautiful mood. There are no throw-away songs in here.
