Meet The Artist - Nick Egan
With international acclaim for art direction and design, British film director Nick Egan combined his understanding of visual language into an iconic form of punk rock imagery that would be distinctive and influential in some of the most celebrated album covers, fashion lines, and music videos.
Born in London, while still attending school, he began designing covers for historic bands like The Clash, The Ramones and The Dexy’s Midnight Runners, for which he would have his first hit cover ‘Searching for the Young Soul Rebels’. He soon began forming a friendship with entrepreneur Malcolm McLaren, the former Sex Pistols’ manager, and was asked by McLaren to design artwork for the band’s album cover ‘Bow Wow Wow’s See Jungle’ which was recently voted # 10 of the top 100 covers of all times by Rolling Stones Magazine. Nick continues to design album covers and create music videos for some of the most recognizable and influential musicians, including the Mindi Abair, Duran Duran, Psychedelic Furs, Iggy Pop, INXS, Bob Dylan, The Cult, The Pretenders and more.

This is one of our most exciting finds yet, and our very first Sauvignon Blanc. We couldn’t believe our eyes, noses and mouths when we came across this perfect representation of a luxury Sauvignon Blanc.
A very versatile grape, Sauvignon Blanc can be grown in either warm or cool regions. However, you will get a very distinct style from each. Just sip a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc and you’ll immediately get a grassy, grapefruit bomb. These characteristics come from being grown in a very cool region. Sip a California born Sauvignon Blanc, which has much warmer days, and you will get tropical fruit, with a touch of citrus. Both are great… just different.
There are many inexpensive Sauvignon Blancs on the market. We wanted to offer a luxury representation, and we found a rare gem here.
The Rutherford region is one of the most iconic in the Napa Valley, home to some of the world’s most talented winemakers. Cabernet is king here, leaving little room for white wines. However, when you find a Rutherford Sauvignon Blanc, it is typically among the finest in the world… and this is what we found here.
The winemaker used a clear bottle so you can see the stunningly clear straw color with just a touch of a green hue, which is very characteristic of Sauvignon Blanc. When we first smelled the aromas, we knew it was something special, and the taste continued this beautiful journey with mellow yet bright tropical fruits… ripe apricot, a touch of grapefruit, sweet honey, juicy papaya and mango. This is a beautiful tropical fruit bowl that is the quintessential representative of a luxury Sauvignon Blanc.

ARTWORK
Inspiration for label artwork comes to us in some interesting ways sometimes, and this design is no exception.
Back for his third encore performance (his previous labels for us include the sold out brands of Vive Le Rock Petite Sirah & Harmony GSM), famed rock ’n’ roll artist Nick Egan came over to our house to drink some wine and catch up (we have a lot in our cellar and ask for help drinking it on occasion.) Always the beautiful generous person, he brought us a gift… an incredibly cool original painting with his signature lettering dripping down the painting “So You Wanna Be A Rock ’N’ Roll Star.” We fell in love with it immediately and found a prominent place in our living room where we get to look at it every day.
Fast forward a few months. One day we’re bouncing ideas around for artwork for this unbelievably excellent Sauvignon Blanc, a wine we believed stood out from its peers. But we just couldn’t find anything that seemed to connect with the wine… until we looked up to Nick’s painting and the answer became perfectly clear.
It has a simple yet powerful statement that we’ve all dreamed about at some point in our lives. There’s a glamour to standing on stage, your guitar amp on 11, microphone in hand, all while the screaming of your fans drowns out the music as you stare into the infinite white spotlight on you. SO YOU WANNA BE A ROCK ’N’ ROLL STAR. Of course you do. For us, this wine stands out and is a huge rock star amongst the hundreds of other wines in Rutherford. It made it to the top and the spotlight is on and burning brightly. Listen to the playlist while you drink it, and you might even have moves like Jagger.
