Quality Provisions Personally Selected By Mindi & Eric

From Our Wine Country Table To Yours... with love

We are fortunate to live in a little wine country town in Sonoma, CA. It is considered one of the most perfect places in the world to grow almost anything. Every Saturday (when we’re not on the road seeing you all) there is a Famers Market like no other. We love to walk and see the finest local wine country provisions from family-owned fruit & dairy farmers, cheesemakers, olive oil makers, spice blenders, charcuterie legends, a mushroom master (he’s amazing), chocolatiers and more all sharing their life‘s passions. It’s a special place with special people for sure. This got us thinking that we should support these amazing people and share our favorites with you... and they all complement our wines (of course.)

Introducing our new venture, “Mindi and Eric’s Favorite Wine Country Provisions”. As we come across new and outstanding local provisions, we will pair them with one of our new wines complete with a recipe, and offer them to you as an add-on to your wine shipment. Join us on this journey supporting those that are creating culinary excellence in wine country!

Deergnaw Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Our very first offer is the Deergnaw Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Not only is the owner the nicest person you’ve ever met, but his oil is world-class. What started many years ago as one tiny olive tree in the yard of his new home in Dry Creek Valley later turned into 700 trees. He makes such a small amount that you can only find it in a few local stores, and now with us! This oil is at first spicy then creamy and nutty with a soft elegance and smooth texture, showcasing its small farm love. If you are interested in buying a bottle, please visit our store www.wineandjazz.com/wineshop. And keep a lookout as we offer more local Provisons in the shipments to come.

Mindi And Eric’s Pepperoni Pizza of Love

Featuring Deergnaw Extra Virgin Olive Oil

  • Ingredients

Journeyman Meat Co pepperoni thinly sliced

6-8 ounces of mozzarella (get the ball and shred it yourself… it’s better quality!

    Pizza sauce (recipe to follow)

Pizza dough (we prefer buying pizza dough from a local bakery… other than that, if you have a whole day to make it, we love Nancy Silverton’s recipe available online)

A handful of semolina flour or cornmeal

    Deergnaw olive oil

  • Pizza Sauce Ingredients

1-28oz can DOP San Marzano Dell’Agro Sarnese Nocerino whole peeled tomatoes

1-4.5oz tube tomato paste (we prefer Mutti)

    1 garlic clove crushed

    1 Tablespoon olive oil

1 Tablespoon dried oregano (or more to taste)

¼ cup Vive le Rock Cabernet Sauvignon (or more… to taste)

    Salt and pepper to taste

  • Pizza Sauce Directions

Heat the olive oil on medium heat in a medium sauce pan or dutch oven. Add 1 crushed garlic clove to season the oil. Add San Marzano tomatoes and juice squishing them with your hands as they go in. This will create a rustic sauce.

  • Pizza Sauce

Add tomato paste, oregano, salt and pepper. Reduce over medium heat for about 30 minutes, stirring intermittently. When done, remove the garlic clove.

  • Add The Wine

Adding wine to any tomato sauce creates a richer more flavorful profile to your dish. But only a touch as you don’t want your pizza sauce to be too watery… just a quarter cup will do.

  • Have Your Wife Grate The Cheese

She will do it if you give her wine and are super sweet to her while making the pizza.

  • Add Your Sauce

Not too much… but don’t worry about too much. It’s pizza and it’s awesome no matter what you do.

  • Add The Cheese

… That your wife’s grated. Awesome.

  • Drizzle The Deergnaw Olive Oil

If you had the good fortune to visit Italy, you have noticed that they use this simple yet important culinary method… on occasion they drizzle high quality olive oil over a pizza as a perfect finishing touch. Doing this retains the spicy and smooth textures of the oil and adds a layer of excellence to your dish. Mangia e divertiti!
