We always get excited when we find a tremendously complex and super interesting red wine. This wine impressed us so much, we bought more than any other wine purchase in our company’s history… so, we better get drinking. If you love rich and flavorful red wines, this wine is definitely for you!

This varietal was made famous by the French in their southern Rhône blends. But our artwork and name pay homage to Grenache’s current home in Spain where it is used in some of their most expensive wines. It is a late ripening grape, so it needs dry, hot regions to help it reach its full potential. These conditions are found in many parts of Spain as well as the Dry Creek Valley of Sonoma, CA, where this wine was born.

A profound medium-bodied wine, we found it at its perfect place in aging process, as it already has some much-needed time in the bottle. The medium garnet color pulls you in and the aromas are just super engaging. Close your eyes and find the dried forest floor and bramble, slight leather and almost dusty aromas integrated with clove and cinnamon stick. Really excellent. The flavors carry the aromas forward with a patchwork of dried earth highlighted by beautiful dried cherry and warm spices. It is unbelievably complex with layer after layer of flavors that just get better with every glass.

This wine pays great respect and lives up to the lofty expectactions of its Spanish heritage.

ARTWORK

This wine is so rich and full of life. And it is such a mainstay varietal in Spain, which led me to the name and approach for the artwork. I pictured a beautiful girl dancing in a red dress next to the incredible flamenco guitarist. That led me to this retro cut out approach for the label art. I’ve always been a fan of this style, as Matisse made it famous in the 1950s. With these cut out shapes, you can see the motion in her dress, hear the clicking of the castanets, and feel the spirit of the wine and song in their hand motion. It’s the perfect representation of this wine.

MUSIC

This wine makes me want to dance and click castanets together. I got so “into the spirit” that I went way too far and bought a pair of castanets and practiced with online instructional videos. I can say confidently that I’m going to keep my day job with the saxophone. But it was so fun! This wine is alive and rich with flavor and texture. That brought me to Flamenco music. It’s intricate, played with great spirit and dripping with passion. I love to hear flamenco guitarists work their magic. It inspires me. And the party they bring to a stage is awe-inspiring. If you’ve never been to see the Gipsy Kings, you need to. These flamenco bands can light up a whole arena with their music, or a single guitarist and dancer can do the same. Drink.. listen loudly and maybe even get yourself a pair of castanets to play along!
