2023 BASS CLEF Dry Creek Valley, Sonoma County Petit Verdot
CORK DORK WINE NOTES by Eric
Some wines sing in the treble clef—bright, high-toned, and delicate. But this one? This is Base Clef—a wine that rumbles with resonance, power, and soul. It is unapologetically bold and expressive, playing in the lower register from the very first pour.
It looks nearly black in the glass, with a richness that grabs your attention and doesn’t let go. On the nose and palate, you’ll find ink-dark fruit—think black plum, cassis, and wild blackberry—layered with graphite, roasted espresso, and a touch of minerality. There’s a weight and structure here that feels almost architectural, like a symphony built on a foundation of bass and drums. Yet with all its power, this wine maintains elegance and polish—never harsh, always composed.
The name Base Clef is no accident. Just like the low, grounding notes of a cello or upright bass, this wine carries depth and complexity that lingers long after the final sip. It’s a wine for those who listen beyond the melody—who crave the richness beneath the surface. Strong, brooding, and full of intention… this is Petit Verdot at full volume.

LABEL ARTWORK & DESIGN
by Eric Guerra & Mindi Abair
We designed this label with the same care and creative fire we bring to every note and every bottle. We wanted the artwork to feel like the visual equivalent of this wine—rich, moody, and full of soul. The jet-black background sets the tone, with barely-there staff lines hinting at the structure beneath. And right at the heart of it: the copper-toned bass clef, standing alone like a single, powerful note that echoes long after the music fades.
This label isn’t just packaging—it’s a statement. It’s meant to evoke the kind of feeling you get when you pull an old vinyl LP from the shelf and remember why you fell in love with music in the first place. For us, the artwork is as much a part of the experience as the wine itself. Bold, stripped down, and unapologetically expressive—just like Bass Clef.
MUSIC PAIRING & PLAYLIST by Mindi
There’s something about the low end that pulls you in—it’s the groove, the weight, the soul beneath the surface. That’s what Bass Clef is all about. I created this playlist to celebrate the power of the bass line—those songs where the groove drives everything, where you feel it before you even hear it. From the silky pulse of Bill Withers and Marvin Gaye to the deep, funky swagger of Tower of Power and the undeniable bottom-end of The Rolling Stones and Stevie Wonder, every track in here lives in that lower register—just like this wine. So pour a glass, turn it up, and let the bass move you.
