Albariño wine (“alba-reen-yo”) is a delightfully refreshing coastal white that was born in the extremely cool Iberian Peninsula, like the Rías Baixas region of Spain… and now has found a home in California. And though it is a light white wine, this varietal has some of the oldest living vines in the world, with many up to 300 years old in Europe. Fairly new to the US, this amazing wine has been loved around the world for decades.
With only 70 cases created, this wine has bright acidity and endearing citrus expressions of nectarine, lime, and grapefruit, with subtle hints of honeysuckle and occasionally beeswax. And you might even be able to pick up a little taste of ocean saline if you search deeper.
We just adore this wine, especially with any type of seafood, while sitting on our porch heading into the warmer Spring and Summer months.

This wine is playful and full spirited in a very sophisticated way. The flavors seem to weave together the same way great sounds swirl around in the sonic atmospheres of great music. I named it Ambient and created a design that visually represented the motion and flow of this type of music. I used a calming greenish-turquoise hue with a wave of sound moving through it, as if to catch you and take you away with it.

I paired this wine with Ambient music, as it surrounds you with a lush landscape of sound and waveforms immersing you in the beauty of what you’re listening to. Pour yourself a glass, turn it up and lose yourself in the sound and the taste as they both wrap around and carry you away.
