We have a few very special stories to tell about this wine… a newly anointed luxury California region, a whole new style to add to our portfolio of Pinot Noirs, and a familiar name with brand new label artwork.

I wish we could say we timed it on purpose, but it was just luck that we selected this wine at the very moment its region joined California’s famed luxury wine appellations as the newly named San Luis Obispo County. This is something that is difficult to do, and a new appellation only appears every few years. It takes a lot to prove that it’s worthy, and this one is very worthy! Fondly referred to in the wine biz as SLO and only 5 miles from the Pacific Ocean, it has taken millions of years to create the sea-fossilized soil that is the foundation of its signature wine characteristics… earthy, complex and rich, red fruit all weaved together in timeless harmony.

The style is old-world Pinot Noir in every sip. Starting with an engaging view of dark ruby in the glass, the aromas give the first impression of earthiness that then open to bouquets of ripe red fruit.. The texture is surprisingly elegant as the flavors are a wonderful patchwork of earth and brown spice all then leading to truly engaging ripe strawberry and raspberry. This wine feels like it has an old soul, very much like the great Pinots of France.

Using our past name Vive Le Soul, the new design makes an elegant yet strong, soulful statement rooted firmly in some of the greatest music ever created, Soul. A perfect wine, music and artwork pairing.
