The Recording Academy’s Grammy Museum

I served as an elected official for the Recording Academy on the Board of Governors, as the President of the Los Angeles Chapter, and as a National Trustee for over 10 years. I became involved with The Recording Academy after playing a GRAMMY Week event celebrating women. I realized that the money raised went to the Recording Academy’s charitable arm that gave students resources and opportunities for music education in schools. I jumped at the chance to go speak to the students, play for them, and help inspire them. That led me into a 10+ year journey into serving in so many ways to encourage our organization and lead our efforts to keep and strengthen music in the schools. The GRAMMY Museum is the charitable arm of The Recording Academy that leads those efforts, and it’s very close to my heart. This is the charitable organization that will profit from the proceeds of this wine.

We have been fortunate to find so many luxury wines to support this unbelievably worthy cause… and none better than this.

If you’re not too familiar, Howell Mountain is this little appellation on the east side of the famed Napa Valley. It is considered one of the (if not THE) most revered and respected wine regions in the world, particularly for Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes are so in demand that a small vineyard estate can sell for up to $10 million… per acre. It’s were the best of the best in wine come to play. Picture a rugged area known for its ancient volcanic soil that drains and keeps the vines digging deep to survive, promoting small berries which create highly concentrated Cabs… just the way we like them. The afternoon sun exposure is more gentle for long term aging, giving these wines a refinement only found in the world’s
luxury growing regions.

By far our best Cabernet to date, the wine drinks absolutely beautifully today but can sit quietly for another 20-30 years.

The color is inky, dark, almost mysteriously deep. The nose is pronounced with bright dark red fruit like cranberry and sweet black cherry, nestled together with a slight hint of graphite and flint. The taste is truly unbelievable… complex yet inviting, it has a velvety texture with some drying dusty tannins masterfully woven together with light smoke, graphite and leather, all sitting behind the generous display of rich black cherry. Medium length with just a touch of a light, creamy oak to finish off a most perfect wine.
